Woodbridge police arrest animal control officer on animal cruelty charges

On Monday, April 8, the Woodbridge Police Department arrested local Animal Control Officer Karen Lombardi on an animal cruelty charge.

Lombardi, age 59, voluntarily surrendered herself at the Woodbridge Police Department this morning at which time she was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant charging her with one  count of cruelty to animals.

Her arrest stems from the investigation into an incident which allegedly occurred in November 2012 at the Woodbridge Animal Control facility.

Animal Control Officer Lombardi was released on a promise to appear in New Haven Superior Court on April 19. She is continuing on her job, according to Police spokesman Sgt. Frank Cappiello.

Police say no additional information will be released at this time.

What these people are doing to Karen is unfair.
As a reporter and a client at the Shelter she has always shown NOTHING but love, patience and understanding for all of the animals under her care.
The shelter was a mess under he DAC Commission and it may be even worse under the thumb of the Woodbridge Police Department.
The behind the scenes story of nepetism and just how the allegations became a matter of public record is much more interesting than destroying this DAC officer’s reputation.
